What is the best way to prevent in-grown toenails?
Answer:
Cut the toenail striaght across. Don't cut them very short, either.
Bigger shoes.
When they begin to grow inward, use a sandpaper nail file and file the top of the nail, in the middle, from end to cuticle a bit. (Maybe about 10 strokes) This "trains" the nail to grow and flatten out a bit more and brings the edges of the nail up out of the skin. It takes about a week or two to notice the difference and feel the pain hurting less.
