What kinda of brace wouidl be best for work?

without having to go to a doctor to get one.
My wrist bothers me often, esp, when moving side to side and lifting things, I work at a horse barn on the weeks and theres alot of mucking and lifting, turning wrist side to side, and i have to have my arm in a sideways position to ride, so what kinda of wrist brace could i use to help not be so sore while working?
I had a ace wrap on today, but didnt help so much Thanks
Answer:
Go to any of your local medical supply stores. There's a generic type of brace that most people use for carpal tunnel...no, i'm not saying you have carpal tunnel, i'm not a doc. This brace will be hard on the underside and have velcro straps to tighten it across the top. If you're paying for it...they shouldn't need a doctor's slip...and if they ask for one...tell them you're replacing your old one that has worn out or broken.I do recommend that you see a doctor for this...but if you're just trying to see what relieves the symptoms...then the carpal tunnel type brace would help to limit motion for a while. It will be hard to hold a shovel for mucking...but obviously your daily work is creating a problem.
Get one from like a store from the pharmacy aisle. It will hold it in place. Or do what I would do bang in and take a sick day.

What kind of pain is associated with PRK?

I AM HAVING PRK DONE NEXT TUESDAY. I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE CAN TELL ME THEIR EXPERIENCE. I HEAR THERE IS SOME PAIN/DISCOMFORT..BUT HOW PAINFUL IS IT? DOES IT FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO RUB YOUR EYES CONSTANTLY (I KNOW YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO, THAT'S WHAT WORRIES ME).? ALSO, CAN CRYING AFFECT THE HEALING PROCESS? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!
Answer:
After PRK
As with any kind of eye surgery, it's important that you follow your doctor's instructions to the letter. Get proper rest, fill and use any necessary prescriptions, and call your doctor immediately if you suspect a problem. What occurs after the surgery can affect your vision just as much as the surgery itself.Immediately after PRK, the doctor will have you rest for a bit, then you can go home (someone else must drive). At home, you should relax for at least a few hours. You may be able to go to work the next day, but many doctors advise a couple of days of rest instead. They also recommend no strenuous exercise for up to a week, since this can traumatize the eye and affect healing.Avoid rubbing your eye (your doctor will tell you how long). In fact, you will be examined just about every day to make sure the epithelium is healing properly. You will probably wear a special "bandage" contact lens, use antibiotic drops for a few days, and apply anti-inflammatory drops for several weeks.

What kind of injury do I have to my leg/knee?

I was playing softball and running to first base... felt a pop on the backside of my leg down in the general area behind my knee and on the back outside portion of my knee (not the MCL or LCL from what I can tell). There wasn't any acute pain associated with the pop and I didn't hear anything, just felt it. There doesn't appear to be any swelling or discoloration -- just some difficulty in moving it, as it is pretty sore. As of now, the joint doesn't feel unstable, either.Could this be a lower hamstring injury or is it something to me knee? Any ideas?
Answer:
It could be a number of things, and I’ll be upfront with you that any sort of accurate diagnosis over the internet is almost completely out of the question. But from what you said I’ll give you my 2 cents. Your report of a “pop” indicates something broke. Considering that you were engaged in running bases, an explosive, high force activity, at the time certainly would support the “you broke something” theory. Considering the area (the distal posteriolateral thigh), your reports of good knee stability, and a lack of swelling/discoloration ligamentous damage can likely be ruled out. Likewise, lack of swelling and discoloration, and no mention of any clicking, catching or buckling likely rules out a meniscus tear. So let’s go back to the area. Your lateral hamstring, the biceps femoris, runs right about where your “pop” was, and lots of people end up “pulling a hammy”. With what you’ve said, that’s what I would say you’ve got--- a 1st degree biceps femoris strain. Signs and symptoms would be pain and pain potentially limiting your active range of motion and strength, but no true loss of strength. If it was a 2nd degree strain you’d have the pain, but would also notice some significant muscle weakness. Alternatively, if you’ve had a history of hamstring strains this could have been an adhesion (scar tissue) breaking. In either event, ice is your friend. Ice the area down (stick a bag of frozen peas on it) for 20 minutes, wait an hour or two, then repeat. Rest it for a while. No strenuous exercise. Walking would be ok, and probably good for it, so long as it’s a nice relaxed pace. Take some ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory over the counter medication to keep any inflammation down. Again internet “diagnosis” = not really worth much. Still, I hope this helps. If the pain hasn’t gone away in a few days, go see your physician. Have a good one.
A couple of quick things come to mind. You may have just popped it out of place quickly and then it returned causing the ligaments to stretch briefly which would explain the pain around the knee. Another possibility is a common cyst that popped behind your knee called a Baker's cyst. If this is the case, no harm caused, just some discomfort.
Go to WebMD and use the interactive symptoms checker. Pretty cool, not funded by Big Pharma, just useful advice and suggestions about whether/when to see a doctor.

What kind of injury did I get and what I can do about it?>?

it hurts on my back below my elbow and ribs... when i move any of my arms only a lil it hurts so much like something is pulling.when i stand up it hurts. when i try to lay down.. too.. it hurts pretty much everytime i move my body...I woke up and it hurt a lil but then i ate breakfast and started hurting so much.. its not a bone i dont think , i think i pulled a muscle or soemthign .. what can i do about it?.. it hurts so bad i cant even get up my chair..i tried hard and fell on my arm lol ahh
Answer:
See a doctor to confirm the problem, but it does sound like you may have pulled a muscle. The doctor can give you muscle relaxants and I can tell you that they really help a great deal. I pulled a muscle in my back where I could hardly move and was bent over. Those muscle relaxants along with taking it easy for a while and a lot of hot baths/showers did the trick. Just make sure you have a doctor make sure that is what it really is.
Go to the hospital. It sounds really serious. This is nothing to mess around with. When I was having muscle spasms I felt the same way though. The Dr. gave me different kinds of medication. It helped some. Go get checked out Today'
Sounds like a pulled muscle. Take about 800mg of motrin, make sure you do it with some food. Also use a heating pad to loosen up your muscles, a hot shower will do too. If you do not have motrin or ibuprofen then try asprin. They both can reduce the inflammation and take away the pain., If you take tylenol it will take away the pain but not the swelling. Good luck

What kind of headache is this?

the pain is quite bad but i also feel sick (although iv never actually been sick) and going on the computer/ tv makes my eyes hurt more. in fact they normally start when im on the computer for a long period of time. iv also felt dizzy and like im going to faint at times.they normally last 3 or 4 days and then go away for a day or so and then come backi have tried all sorts of things to stop the pain but the only thing which has helped is taking paracetemol plus and nurofen together, but even then the pain comes back after a few hours
Answer:
i would agree with eye strain, tension headache or sinus related. try 1500mg of soluble aspirin in the very early stages of the pain, amazingly this often works! (not so great if you have had it for a few hours-then stick with the paracet/codeine/nurofen combo) are you drinking enough water as well? i would get your eyes checked, if anything at least you can rule out an option if your eyes turn out to be ok. do you suffer from hayfever or allergies? excess fluid can cause pressure in the head, and therefore pain.
Try napping if you've got the opportunity, but it's possible that you have migraines (seeing as they last so long). You should consult your gp to see if there's anything that can be done?
a migrain? ...i can't spell.
whatever, it a headache. talk to your doctor about it.
sounds like migraines you might try an over the counter migraine pill or capsule, or better yet get it checked by a doctor
This may sound very silly, but have you ever had your eyes checked? Before I found out that I needed glasses I suffered really bad headaches and nausea, especially when watching TV at that time. I never really 'saw' that my vision was bad, because it gradually sets in. My docter advised me to have my eyes checked and here I am, no more headaches and a cute pair of glasses.
Yep...Sounds like a migrane or tension headache. I find it hard to believe that you've never been ill. Surely you've had at least one cold...

What kind of headache do I have?

I have sharp 1 second pains every once in a while on top of my head, behind my right eye, on either side of my head, and I've also been having sinus pressure. In addition, I'm getting heat sensations on my right jawline and on my left earlobe. I could write all this off as symptoms of sinus headache w/ stress, but I'd like to be sure, and make sure it's nothing to worry about.
Answer:
Sinus headaches are rare unless you have a sinus infections. Several studies have shown that 90% of what people think are sinus headaches are actually Migraine attacks. Because a Migraine attack affects the trigeminal nerve, one branch of which runs along the sinuses, a Migraine can easily cause a feeling of pressure or pain in that area. The sharp one-second pains you describe could be ice pick headaches. All in all, a visit to your doctor to check out these things would be a good idea.Good luck!
Maybe u-r just getting sick and maybe its just spring.
Do you have your wisdom teeth out? I was having similar problems and it turned out my wisdom teeth were causing all the pressure and pain. You may want to see a dentist.
i suggest you buy some nasal decongestants with some pain reliever in it . try that and see how you feel
That's not even remotely typical of sinus headaches, though it isn't a classical picture of any other headache syndrome, either. It sounds like a good challenge for you and your doctor to work on for a while.

Some of the reasons which cause headache are hypertension, over work, mental stress, indigestion, sleeplessness, fever, anemia, deficiency of oxygen in the blood, etc. Whenever a headache strikes drink lots of water .Lack of oxygen may have lead to your headache. Place a few ice-cubes in a polythene bag, and apply this on the forehead and temples. Check out http://useinfo-headache.blogspot.com/... for more info

What kind of exercises is good for people with rheumatoid arthritis?

I have Rheumatoid Arthuritis and I want to excercise to help my joints and to lose some weight. Anyone here know of any good prgrams to get involved in that I won't suffer from for days after doing it?
Answer:
Swimming, walking and you can walk in your house. I bought Leslie Sansone Walk for Life tapes and I love them. You can start out slow with 1 mile and build up to a fast 5 miles. Check her out on line. Also maybe pilates and yoga. I'm sure if you go on line for these they will have ones that are for beginners and for people that have some things wrong with them. Give it a shot and just stop if it hurts. Good luck and you will feel better if you exercise.
walking, cycling, swimming
Swimming is the best, its easiest on the joints. The YMCA has a class called "Twinges in the Hinges" , but swimming is the best.
You can hot fomentations in a region the joint and in counting move the joint this exercise repeats three times in the day cordially in a circular movement and will observe the difference + an injection in the muscle ( hydrocotisone) . in month

What kind of doctor would I go to to find out if I have a pulled or torn muscle in my back?

What procedures would they do to check and see what's wrong?
Answer:
Actually a chiropractor would be your best bet. Usually if you tear a muscle you may have a small lump or indentation where the tear is and it will be hot,red and swollen. Unless you know of a specific tramatic injury to the muscle chances are you just pulled or strained it. A bowen therapist or a good massage therapist is the best treatment for a strain.
See a General Practitioner to begin with, and get a referral from him or her if they can't help you with the problem.

What kind of doctor should i go to for arm pain??

my dad's arm has been hurting for two weeks now. the other day my mom squeezed it accidentally, he was in pain real bad. but then he was alright. So what kind of doctor should i go to? i don't want to go to my family doctor. because all he does is that he refers us to someone and waste our momey. Please help me.
Answer:
an arm doctor
Avoid any armatures use only experienced doctors.
However you will find it will cost you an arm and a leg.
well you have to go to your family doctor because you will need a referal to see any kind of specialist..thanks how it works...he might just have pulled a muscle or strained it and your family doctor can prescribe a anti-inflammatory to ease the pain. Good luck to your dad.
he can see an ortho (bone) doctor. he will do some testing. or he can see an internal md. either can order the appropriate test.
I would suggest going to either a general practicioner. They will most likely examine the arm and recommend a specialist, which will most likely be an orthopedist. Most likely, your father will have to get either MRI if the doctor doesn't believe it is a broken bone, because in most cases sharp pains that don't persist for long can be explained by either a hyperextended ligament or tendon, or an enflamed muscle or joint.
there is no such thing as an arm dr.unfortunately your family dr is the best choice .tell him you don't want to be refered to another dr.(you may want to think about changing primary dr)
I would suggest an Internist or an Orthopedic Specialist, have it checked out soon.
I am an acupuncturist in Fort Collins, CO and see this kind of thing all the time. If you are looking for a Western opinion on this , a neurologist or orthopedist are going to be your best bet. Oftentimes in cases like this there is alot of overlap between the two so either one should be helpful. Good Luck.
You always start off with your family doctor. If he or she can not help, your doctor will know which direction to send you in. I am sure there will be some xrays in there somewhere
Hi!
Your Dad has to go to his doctor first. And if his doctor is worth the money he is paid for, will send him for an X-ray- better yet for an MRI. There is a long waiting time but it's better to put his name on the list than waiting for nothing. The MRI result will have a clear picture of what's wrong with his arm. My guess is he may have a herniated disc just around the top three layer part of his neck. That's why the pain is reverberating to his arm. Anyway, I'm not a doctor but I'm speaking from experience.
If his doctor insists on telling him otherwise, ask your Dad to demand a referral for an MRI and NOT leave until he gets one. That is his right!
Take and Good Luck!

What kind of bugs live in hair?

I found this brown bug in my hair a couple weeks ago, so i went and bought some lice shampoo because i thought that was the problem, since my head started itching after i got back from my trip to florida, which consisted of staying in a hotel for 4 days. I followed all of the instructions on the box, including combing it out to find more bugs.where i found two more. Then i repeated it 7 days later like it said and i found more, but i thought it would be done after that, since i did what the box said. A couple days later, i was combing my hair and i found a couple more. I did it again last night and i found about 4 or 5. I dont know what it could be. Do I have lice even after doing the treatment 3 times...or could it be something else.
Answer:
yes, you definately have lice! i just went through this with me and my girls. We treated it over and over and finally the thing that worked was MAYO! It was the last thing I tried and let me tell you, I wish I had tried it first! Leave it on over night with a plastic shower cap tightly wrapped. Wash out in the morning. Keep combing it out for a week to get the eggs out. And wash EVERYTHING you can in your home!
Lice, Bed bugs, etc...
could be fleas? you should go to the doctors. i think lice are more of a blackish color. and if you do the treatment three times, you should not see them multiplying.
well when i was a youngster i had always seemed to have lice and what my mom did to me was put mayo on my head and then cover it with a plastic sack and what this did was suffercate them because the stuff from the store doesent work at all that it why you continuisly have the lice and as far as i know that is the only bugs that live in hair
WOW just trying to help, but I have saw many ticks on my ankles in the smallest form ever. This does not seem to still answer your question I am sure. I would think the lice treatment would do more than enough to rid those also. However i do know that it is extremely difficult to get rid of lice. I do allow communication and if you haven't as of yet found a answer I would be glad to try to help more.
this is gonna sound gross but they could be bird lice or crabs.. ( pube lice) if u sat on a public toielet, or had birds flapping above your head ( seagulls) you need to get to a doctor PRONTO cuz they are worse than head lice. im a teacher i know all about nasty bugs n stuff go to the doctor

At first, I couldn't see anything, then I thought it was lice and treated my hair about 5 times to find that it got worse. These things in my hair do not like light because when I move my hair to grab them they run away. I caught one between my fingers and saw enough to see that they were little worms. The other day, I saw a worm crawling in my carpet and now they seem to be everwhere. HOW DO I GET RID AND STAY RID OF THESE THINGS. PLEASE HELP ME.

What it mean when you walk up steps and you get light headed, head pounding, heart reacing, and knees hurt?

Answer:
It probably means that you're out of shape, but it could also mean that you have asthma (not the knees part).
That you're fat.
You're out of shape.
You have high blood pressure.
You have low blood sugar.
your out of shape. or an old fart like me.. get it checked out soon..may be serious
youve had a lot of bleeding in the near or far past and uve got iron deficiency anemia. do u have numbness when u sleep on ur hand or do u get respiratory problem when ur excercising?
You're certainly not an athlete! :)Seriously, get a thorough physical ASAP--the light-headedness, pounding head and racing heart could be early indications of heart problems. The aching knees could be arthritis, old sports injuries, or you're overweight and straining them.

What is/ causes an itch?

what agrivates the skin so that it is in need of being scratched?
Answer:
Itching can either be a tingling, or an uncomfortable irritation that can be felt on one area of the skin, or varies places. Itching can be cause by bites from insects, such as bees, wasp, mosquitos, to body lice, or head lice. One may also itch from such things as sunburn, irritations from plants such as poison ivy, or allergic reation to things such as food or medicines. Some have also noticed itching during times of stress, during perspiration, and illnesses such as lupus, and leukemia. If there are patches of dry skin, they may also have a tendancy to itch. These patches can be a result from things such as dermatitis, irritants such as soaps, or fabrics. Some foods and drinks may cause one to itch. Pregnancy has also been a cause for women to itch. The best thing to do, is to take notice of what you are wearing, taking, eating or bathing in when you start itching. Also remember that certain health conditions are associated with itiching, so you may want to speak with your doctor if you haven't changed what you take a bath in, wash your clothes in, what you are eating, or what you are drinking. Irritation of the skin from chemical agents or elements usually outside of the human body.
The itch is caused by the release of histamine within your body. The skin comes in contact with an irritant setting off a chain of chemical events, resulting in the release of histamine into the blood stream.

What is your view of chiropractic?

Please share your opinions about chiropractic. Those who have experienced chiropractic firsthand or medical professionals who have worked with them.what were your thoughts?
Answer:
I was quite skeptical before going, but after I was pleasantly surprised.
Not only did he massage, stretch and crack my back, but I learned a lot about what causes the discomfort and what to do about it.
A good Chiropractor is worth every penny. You'll live better for it. A very worthwhile experience.
I've suffered with back issues my whole life and i was always afraid to go to the chiropractor cause it's just kinda freaky.. and i finally gave in and went and i did a 12 visit program and it did absolutely nothing. it was actually a bit traumatizing but some people swear by them.
I would go to the chiropractor first, because if they can't fix it they will send you to another kind of doctor, but a medical dr. won't send you to a chirioractor, just treat you and not the cause.I was a nurse for a long time. and that is my honest opinion.
a good chirpractor will do wonders. i always feel better after a treatment
A good chiropractor is wonderful. They are more holistic type in healing - don't prescribe drugs. I'm in good shape but suddenly developed neck pain. I thought I just slept crooked. Went to chiropractor whom I've seen for this problem. Its been a year since he saw me last. He was pleased at my increased activity level - weight training and participating in 5k races. He was feeling my neck and could tell I was in severe spasm. He didn't do the adjusment. He used cold laser and a thumper instrument. 2 weeks and 4 visits later I'm feeling better but the xray he took of my neck showed I have a very thin disc at base of neck which seems to be causing the problem. Bottom line, I would see a chiropractor before seeing a surgeron. Being adjusted should not be painful and the result should be less pain.
Ready for a Horror story? This was not my only bad experience at a Chiropractor's office either.
But, this is why I'll never go see a Chiropractor again nor a Nurse Practitioner and why I would only recommend one as the last resort:
I went to a chiropractor for neck pain after being referred by a Nurse Practitioner that was at my doctor's office. It was the first time I was ever referred to a Chiropractor before a doctor took x-rays or did more in depth testing. So, I assumed that the Chiropractor would take x-rays at his office before beginning work, as they often do.
The chiropractor did not take x-rays either, but proceeded to work on me even though I was uneasy about it, trusting soul that I was. The manipulation was more like a nudging massage than a snap, crack from an old school chiropractor. So, I figured that he was just doing an inoccuous procedure to stop a muscle spasm or something.
BUT, after the second visit, I woke up the following morning with my left arm paralyzed from compressed nerves.
MRI's confirmed that I had 3 herniated discs, a compressed spinal cord, pinched nerve roots and more when I went into the chiropractors office. I thought all I had was a stiff neck. The chiropractor could have easily killed me according to the neurosurgeon.
Therefore, do not go to a chiropractor until COMPLETE medical testing, imaging and diagnostics is done to confirm that there is not a more serious problem going on. I blame much of this on insurance companies intimidating or otherwise pressuring doctors to omit necessary testing to keep the insurance company's profits up. (The insurance company calls it keeping medical costs down to make it sound better.)
There is a lot of quackery in Chiropractic.
Watch out for those that recommend that you come in repeatedly for weeks and weeks on end. I have had some chiropractors that treated a problem in a day or two and others that took years to treat a very similar problem by using different manipulation.
Watch out for those that claim to find future problems or point out problems that you didn't know you had. I had one that asked me if I had headaches. I said yes and he proceded to snap my jaw. My bite has not been right since and it did nothing for my headaches.
The first chiropractor I went to was very good but I have not been able to find another good one since his retirement. I'm sticking to conventional medicine now, thank you very much.
Chiropractic is a safe and effective way to help with many conditions. Chiropractic is different than other health care professions in that it allows the body's own natural ability to heal and regulate itself. If you have scoliosis, than you probably have nerve interference which is causing dysfunction in your body, resulting in symptoms. In this case, pain in your back. Chiropractic adjustments release the interference from the brain to the body therebey restoring the integrity of the nerve system and the ability of your body to heal itself. If it is scientific proof you are looking, I have included below a few research studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of chiropractic. Unlike all other "treatments", chiropractic believes that health and healing comes from within, not from the outside. It doesn't need lotions and potions to heal. Only the body can heal, that is, if there is no interference.Research supporting Chiropractic

I've had bad chiros, okay chiros, and one great chiropractor. I moved out of state and have not been able to find another great one. My prior Primary Care Provider refused a referral for my insurance because he doesn't think they help. So, I changed PCP's and went to a D.O. I've had great DO's as well, but they can get wrapped up in the insurance mess and start to see too many patients and do less manipulations and more prescriptions. My least favorite chiros: one chewed tobacco during my treatment (HOW GROSS!!) and the other one herded us thru his office like cattle. We had these "jump seats" and we had to watch to see who was next--sometimes people just cut in. Then, we just went behind a 4-5 foot panel for our treatment. It was horrible. The best chiropractor I had never used x-rays on me. He said he could feel what needed to be done. He helped me after a major car accident, and he used some other tests similar to iridology to help in the healing process. He and his partner really seemed to care about his patients and worked us in on short notice when needed.

What is your opinion of doctors?

A long time ago, I lost faith that doctors are generally competent, or care about their patients. For example, you may have to wait a week to get an appointment, and then, when you FINALLY get "an audience with the king", he gives you some superficial, cursory "examination", and he just mouths some platitudes about getting rest or some such thing.Right now, I may or may not have a meniscus problem in my knee. I may or may not have a problem with my ACL. Either I should walk unless it hurts, walk only short distances, or lay in my apartment for three weeks without stepping outside. I'm not sure. That is the recommendation of three different doctors. Why does it seem like doctors don't really have a grasp of human anatomy? When they can pinpoint the exact point where something hurts, and they can feel the soft tissue around the area, it should be self-evident. Even my massage therapist had a different answer. Are doctors just ambivalent?
Answer:
well, let me provide you an opinion on doctors by a doctor (an orthopedic surgeon no less), and also make some social commentary.i can certainly understand the frustration from the patients' standpoint. there is truly a very wide spectrum of doctors out there, dumb ones, smart ones, ambivalent ones, passionate ones. one must remember that doctors are only a segment of the normal population; yes, we are more "educated" which just indicates that we spent more years in school. this doesn't equate to more intelligence, common sense, desire to save lives. there were plenty of less than bright people in medical school, as well as near geniuses. however, after all those years of training one would expect some "expertise" in their respective specialties.i also sense a significant deterioration in the patient-physician relationship due to many factors. people in our today's society are much more entitled. one clear example is the comment made by the nurse above, "I go into my doctor and tell him what I want. If he won't give it to me, I will find another doctor." in today's legal climate, doctors are all forced to practice defensive medicine which is not only exceedingly expensive, but also not necessarily best for patient care. and in today's economic climate, some doctors' way of practice is altered by other forces, ie the insurance company or the hospital (which may explain why you haven't had a MRI yet or referred to an orthopedic surgeon; and also why doctors spend 1 1/2 minutes with each patient after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment). one more important factor involves people who have secondary gain or have no reasons to "get better". unfortunately, in specialties especially like orthopedics, there are many patients who just want to take advantage of the system and would much rather just be on disability for the rest of their lives for anything and everything. so you can imagine, doctors have multiple issues to deal with other than your knee.i do agree with the nurse above in that in today's health care system, one must somewhat take charge and use physicians as consultants. for the most part, short of life or death situations, doctors should be there to educate, provide options and recommendations.in your problem specifically, i get the impression that none of the 3 different doctors you saw were orthopedic surgeons. an ACL rupture and to a slightly less extent, a meniscus tear should be fairly simple to diagnose by an orthopedist with some basic physical exam maneuvers. but this may be very difficult for a primary care physician to do. so if you did see 3 orthopedists and none of them were concerned enough to order a MRI or provide some other modality of care, then it is not likely that your meniscus or ACL are involved.with all that said, don't know what to say other than good luck with your knee and try to find a good doctor.
There are really fantastic doctors...and really crappy doctors. If you are not satisfied with what one doctor says you should always get another opinion because there are some rotten apples out there.
Remember that doctors don't know everything. There is so much to know they can't possibly know it all. As a general rule I trust them but if there is any doubt do your own research.
I think doctors have lost touch with the most important aspect of their job: listening! The best doctors are the best listeners. My mantra is avoid the medical people whenever possible.
This is a very good question. Our role in our healthcare is changing. It used to be you followed your doctors orders without question. Now...you have to be in charge of your own healthcare. Do research. I only use doctors as a consultant. If you approach it this way, you will have more control. YOU know what is working and what isn't. They can only really give you their opinion anyway. I go into my doctor and tell him what I want. If he won't give it to me, I will find another doctor. Of course this is not the system to use when seeking pain relief. You can't go from doctor to doctor asking for pain medication. That is actually illegal.
They're still practicing?
I think it depends a lot on the doctor. Many are less competent than others. Some are very good. You need to shop around, as you would for a good plumber or a good mechanic.I use a GP who is overworked and I have a hard time getting an appointment, but most of my visits are routine, so I can work with some lead time. He knows me, knows my family, cares about our health. But I do have to wait as much as a month to see him unless it is an emergency, in which case he'll usually work me in the same day.I also see a urologist who performed surgery on me a few years ago. I swear by this guy. He has done kidney transplants on NBA stars and is almost famous.Any doctor who suggests natural healing as the best way to deal with an injury is cooperating with nature, and I approve of that approach. Surgery should be a last resort. I also am an advocate of preventative health care as the best way to maintain ourselves. If your doctor isn't giving you help you are comfortable with you should see another doctor or ask for a referral to a specialist. Your knee problem should at least merit an X-Ray or some sort of imaging for proper diagnosis, if it has been a chronic problem. This can get expensive, but knees and joints are a weak point--especially as we age--so it might be worth it to get a good diagnosis by a specialist.A good GP should have a fair grasp of anatomy, but should also know where his or her weak areas are, and should not try to treat conditions in those areas. I would not expect a GP to do a heart transplant, for example, or to diagnose complex bone or joint injuries.I would seriously consider following the advice the doctors you have seen have given you, especially since three of them have given essentially the same advice. And trust a doctor over a massage therapist just as you would a surgeon over a tailor. The massage therapist may have some good ideas based on experience, but the clinical knowledge will be very limited.Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
As the first poster said there are some excellent drs out there and then there are drs out there that aren't so good. It does take work to find a good dr that is willing to listen and help the patient to try and find out what is going on. Sometimes it can take a while to find out what is wrong and that may mean trying several different drs before finding the right one to help figure out the problem. As for waiting a week or two to get an appt I don't mind it if I'm not having a non-urgent problem when it comes to some of my health problems but I always have appreciated when my one dr that I see on a regular basis tells the staff to work me in if she feels I need to be seen sooner than normal.I think that sometimes drs give some of the answers they do because they just don't know the answer. This is why I wish more of them would just tell us they don't know if they really don't know. I'm glad that my team of drs does this for me because I would rather hear "I don't know" or "try asking your other drs to see if they know" if the one dr I ask doesn't know.As for pinpointing the exact area of where something hurts sometimes that's not always easy to do which is why they have to ask different questions like the general location of the pain, how long it lasts, what is it's intensity, what kind of things make it worse or better. Things like that. Because they are being like a detective to try and help you (the person that goes to them that is) solve the mystery. Some injuries and such are not always self-evident, another reason they have to ask questions to get clues. There's a program on Discovery Health called Mystery Diagnosis and one of the things that I'm glad to see on there is that the drs that are interviewed for the pieces done will often say that they don't always know the answers. It takes work to find a good dr to help take care of a problem and it's not always easy to do because it means that you may have to try several of them before finding the right one. And yes for some that may mean getting 3 or 4 different opinions before finding the right answer.I think that they can be useful and good, especially if they are good listeners and are willing to take the time to answer the patients' questions.
I think that doctors try as hard as they can for each patient (of course, there are exceptions to every rule). So many of the same symptoms are caused by different conditions, it can be hard for them. I can say with a clean conscience that all doctors care about you. No doctor wants you to be sick, or feel pain. Unfortunately, everyone makes mistakes. That's why you shouldn't take the doctor's word offhand, but try and do some of your own research. After they have made their diagnosis, speak up, and ask if you think it could be such-and-such disease. If they say no, ask them what signs are missing, or show that you don't have it. But it is not only that. For some conditions there are various treatments, and just because you don't get the same answer from two different doctors doesn't mean either of them is wrong. A doctor has been through medical school, and has done the work, and I'm sure that they are perfectly capable and willing.
Yes there's not a lot of good ones around these days and some even Pretend to be doctors, they haven't got a PhD!
I am totally with you here . . .These days I only go to the doctor if I know there's a need for antibiotics (bacteria they can test for). Otherwise, I'm sticking to the homeopathic route.I've been diagnosed with four or five different ailments, none of which is "heal-able." All of which require many expensive meds (with side-effects). After the bounce around for a year, with bad effects of the meds taking over my life, I finally "detoxed." Have you done all this: The torn meniscus represents a mechanical block to normal joint motion. If the meniscus is torn in the peripheral thirty percent, the blood supply is adequate to permit healing if the tear is repaired in a stable fashion. If the tear is in the inner zone, with less blood supply, the likelihood of a repair healing is diminished but not eliminated. Newer techniques to provide stable repairs and increased nutrition to this tissue have provided a high rate of healing. Due to the supreme importance of the meniscus in knee joint function as described above, every effort to repair torn menisci is now made at the time of arthroscopic surgery..Are you using a brace?

I use Web MD a bunch. I think that most of them are indifferent. Do you think if we had a money-back guarantee system in place they might work for that big money?
Neurologists handle above the shoulders, orthopedists handle below the shoulders. These are very specialized fields. As for an orthopedist - you need a sports medicine orthopedist and an MRI. It might well be that your primary care doctor will need to order the MRI first or at a minimum - x-rays, although x-rays will not show soft tissue. Simple as that. I always go sports medicine when it comes to ortho. I have had 4 knee surgeries - 2 reconstructive both knees and the other two repairing a torn meniscus - also both knees. Depending on your age, and also depending on whether you actually sustained an injury to your knee - it could be degenerative process i.e. arthritis in the joint. You don't mention a clicking sensation. You also don't mention instability in the joint. You also don't mention an injury. When dealing with these specialists, you might want to write down what is happening with your knee, if you injured - how you injured it and when - before going to the doctor. Sounds like you might not be specific enough. As for the movements they do in the office, those actually are viable aspects of the examination. They're checking the flexibility and surrounding muscle strength of the joint, and so forth. Try being very specific with the next one and I would seek an orthopedist who specializes in sports medicine. If the only problem is arthritis - the worse thing you can do is not walk. Walking helps to keep the surrounding muscles, ligaments and tendons strong which supports the knee. When those get weakened, you are more prone to injury and will experience more pain if degenerative process is the issue for you.Sports medicine ortho - I wouldn't see anyone less qualified than that as they have kept me walking quite well.
A lot depends on the patient's attitude when they come to an office. If they have a chip on their shoulders, then they'll likely be mad at the doctor, regardless of what he/she says.Subspecialists are so immersed in what they do that they're not "up" on something outside the specialty. Does it make sense to ask your cardiologist about your hepatitis? No. Should you ask your orthopedic surgeon about your heart failure? No.Sometimes rest IS the best thing. It's amazing how many patients don't want to hear that and want SOMETHING done.
well I understand your frustration. I have had headaches and gone to many doctors and they have no clue. I can't understand why that is an acceptable answer. I have had blod work and an MRI and they can find nothing. I have some symptoms of one thing and some of others but not enough of one to diagnose me.one claims that I have tension headaches and she didn't even test me...lol
I get scared because I could be sick but they have no clue.I have to laugh.
But some doctors are great.just not the ones I have seen...lol
What would we do wihout them ?
Wait a minute, you trust a "massage therapist's" anatomy knowledge over a physician who spends the first year of medical school actually disecting a human body? Then another 3 years of med school, 3-5 years of residency, then perhaps additional years of a fellowship. (Compared to maybe 6 months of 'Massage School' - not even required in many states)Yes, pes anserine is the actual name of a muscle. Massage therapists are always going to find a muscular reason - it is the only thing they can treat! Of course did that person tell you about the relationship of the pes, the MCL, and the medial meniscus?Physicians receive only a little training in regards to modalities and rehab. That is why they refer patients to physical therapists and athletic trainers for treatment. Why is it when a physician doesn't tell you what you want to hear, the doctor "is no good"? Patient non-compliance is one of the largest reasons people don't improve with basic orthopedic injuries.

Answer:
Lots of exercise - whenever possible, with friends - it is more enjoyable - even if it is just a brisk walk with a friendly neighbour. Must be regular, though - at least three times per week.
Also, drinking lots of water and not having too many late nights. Most important - try to enjoy life and don't take things too seriously.

What is wrong? should i see a doc?

at work my co worker dropped a pallet of boxed paper down 20 fifty pound boxes on it and it caught my pinky toe like in my shoe. i couldnt get my shoe out my co worker lifted the pallet and i got my foot out. and now my pinky toe and ankle hurt. even all the way to my knee but mostly my ankle. but why would my anle hurt|? my toe doesnt even really hurt. today the next day it doesnt hurt as much but i never used it, my foot is swollen and no discoloration. it is fairly cold too. i can walk on it it hurts but not so i cant walk. i do limp though. any guesses at what could be wrong. i know it not fractured or broken cuz i can walk and wiggle my toes. it is bruised now too.
Answer:
Just because you can wiggle your toes doesn't mean there isnt a fracture. However they do very little for most closed fractured toes (they just taped mine together). Also since your foot was "trapped" and you probably jerked or moved suddenly because you were startled, you might have twisted your ankle or something. Since this is an accident at work you should have been able to go get checked without it costing you. But that often requires that you report the injury when it happens and fill out an accident report and that kind of thing. It is harder to get them to cover things you didn't report in a timely fashion or in the correct way. Still, you should be covered. If it continues to be painful and doesn't get better, I think you should have it checked, just to make sure.
Pinched blood vessel cutting off circulation?
just because you can walk on your foot does not mean that it's not fractured. only an xray can discern this. visit an urgent care or ER.
YA, go to the doctor silly! It could be a hairline fracture, there is definitley something wrong, go right away tomorrow, they should X-ray your foot. Good luck
I'd see a doc. could have damaged blood vessels and/or nerves. It couldn't hurt to have it checked out.You might have damaged more than you realized at the time...
You need to fill out an accident report at work, and see a doctor. That way, it is paid for by the company and if you need to miss work it is fully excused. Its not worth a health risk to sit around and wonder whats wrong. Plus, that happened to me once, and I waited so long that when I did finally go to a doctor, they had to re-break it.
You may have torn a nerve or a blood vessel while trying to pull your foot out. The nerve would explain why it doesn't hurt, but the blood vessel would explain why it is cold and doesn't hurt, as well as the bruising, though along with the nerve the bursting of the capillaries would also explain bruising. However, since to said that your knee hurt, I would think that it would be a damaged nerve, and that should be checked out soon, as a nerve that large can sometimes be repaired if treated early. So yes, go see a doctor, even informally if necessary.
you could have hurt any number of things. ice it. tell your boss and go to the ER

What is wrong?

i put my books on a table and it fell on my arm and I can't like move it and things and I put a ace banage thing but I can't move it and everything is there a posibly its broken?
Answer:
By saying you can't move "it" do you mean your fingers, your wrist, your elbow or your shoulder? A doctor should see you to see if its just sprained or if you broke something.
no...jstu probably bruised or pulled a muscle just dont use ur arm as much
If it was broken u could still move it, but it would hurt, so we're talking nerve damage. Don't know how u got nerve damage from books, unless there were alot, or a sharp part of a cover poked u in a funny way.

What is wrong with my toe?

yesterday i was outside playing with my dog and my shoes were wide for me so my shoe came off my foot while left big toe was still inside it. than i tripped over it. my toe got slit right at the end of the cuticle where it meets the skin. yesterday i kept it evavated to stop the bleeding. i took some advil liquid gels. this morning it was very swollen and hard i took ive profein. cant walk on it. do u think it is broken or wat??
Answer:
you have to go to the doctor immediately. There's a big risk of infection with this type of injury. only your doctor can answer all of your questions.

What is wrong with my leg?

My upper thigh hurts causing me to walk with a limp. I don't know what I could have done seeing as how I don't play any sports. How can I treat it and how long will it take?
Answer:
Is the pain anywhere else? Recent injury, even something you didn't think much of at the time? I had terrible leg pain, even went to a couple doctors who couldn't diagnose anything, couldn't see anything from x-rays. Turns out I had broken my tail-bone at a skating party--one of those things when you hurt yourself and feel o.k. (enough) and think nothing more of it. The result was mild sciatica--I limped around for a few weeks, but there wasn't actually anything doctors could have done. Get thorough x-rays/consult anyway. Sounds like you've pulled a muscle based on the info. you gave.Good luck
you might have sprained your self... sometimes you get sprained when you dont work much. just put some ice on it to ease the pain and eventually it might heal
It's about time that you need to see your family doctor. Don't ignore it. Because if you have pain on you right upper thigh, you might be suffering from hernia. Or you might have too much intake of salt. Better see your family doctor.
Have a nice day :)
Go to the doctor and check it out.
Good luck.
it is bursitis, it is an imflamation of the greater bursa. I had an injection in mine and it helped for a while. they pain is actually coming from your hip and then it radiates to the thigh.
What's wrong with your leg? you ask?Nothing;
It's as beautiful and gorgeous as ever!Well, NO; really, Sweetie, it could well be that your not playing any sports or at least, not properly engaging activity that could be the prime overall reason that you suddenly have this problem.
You need to get yourself into a daily [well 5 times per week] exercise program; the body was made for work; don't slack off on it; treat it with the needs and respect that it deserves - including putting it to the test.
As some people say, "The body was made for movement".
So, use it Honey ... you know the saying, 'Use it or lose it!"Now, to be more specific to your case at this particular instant, you may well find that much of your problem will be back-related.
You need to do stretches and exercises that open up your spine and stretch it - being your leg, specifically means that the lower back needs stretching.
You can roll around on the floor and bend over in a relaxed toe-touching position from a standing start and hold your position for 30 secs; you can also lie with back on floor and pull forward on your neck and head for 20 to 30 secs - all of whatever will stretch out your back.
The key, as much as possible, is to let your actual back relax when you use these other positions and use front-anterior muscles to stretch it.
Then gently exercise those lovely legs and get yourself fit.
God gave them to you to use and get them looking fit and good.
You could simply have a cramp or something. Try to stretch. I know it will hurt but you have to work the cramp out. After all the stretching do some walking.
what happened to your leg prior to having these symptoms? for now, put ice on it. if it is recent (24 hours). or use hot moist packs (if u have one), if there is pain. the best thing to do is to see a doctor and have the leg x rayed. it could be something like arthritis. if u had an accident, better see the doctor. u could have bone problem.

What is wrong with my leg or knee?

when i bend my left leg back, it really hurts. i lay on my stomach and can lift my right leg but not my left. if i keep tryin it feels better. i can move it forward when standin but not back. going up stairs hurts too. what hapened? i dont remember doing anything.
Answer:
You should go to a doctor. I had a similar issue with my hand, but I just got a ACE brace thing and it got better in a week.
It may be growth puberty because that just happened to me like for a week or two and I didn't remember that I hurt my knee. It will get better, but it may ache a lot depending. It's called growth pains... I don't really like it either. Hope this helps. Maybe if you wan't you could take Advil to calm down the pains.
Well, the answer depends on this answer. When you move it back is the pain REALLY sharp or more of a burn/hurt?If it's sharp then you've got a torn ligament or torn tendon. if it's a burn/hurt then it's a muscle. if it's a muscle continue to work it. if it's tendon or ligament then DO NOT move it to where it hurts, BUT move it every other direction. muscle is fast healing the other is really slow healing.

Answer:
You don't have to have "done anything". But see your doctor. No one else can possibly begin to dagnose your problem, and no one else can possibly begin to help you to help yourself to manage it.
It's hard to say with certainly, but you need to see a doctor and not take chances on it getting worst.

What is wrong with my knee?

I've been running since highschool, but after my last two runs my knee has hurt shortly afterward. It's only the outside of my right knee. It hurts to walk and bend it. After the first time I just thought maybe I didn't stretch enough, but once again it hurts. Does anyone know why or what this may be?
Answer:
All the running could've put a lot of stress on the knee. I would give it a break. If it hurts after a week go see a doctor. That's what I recommend. I had to do this for my ankle and it turns out I tore a ligament
WHAT?
It sounds like you may have a torn ACL or possibly have just strained a muscle. Give your knee a couple days rest and see how it's doing. Obviously, don't run on it like you normally do. Also, are you running on pavement or grass? You may be jarring your knees by stepping in holes or uneven ground. Maybe try a surface that has a little give. Any tracks made out of that rubber stuff where you live? It always made my knees feel so much better running on those tracks.
You might have a slightly strained muscle or it could be something worse such as patello femoral syndrome or a torn ligament. If the pain persists or if swelling develops put it on ice and seek medical attention.
If it is on the outside of your knee then it sounds a lot like IT band tendinitis. If it is just to the outside of your knee cap then it may be patellofemoral syndrome. My hunch is that it is IT band tendinitis. You need to make sure you are stretching your gluteal muscles (butt muscles), and putting a bag of ice right on your skin for 15 mins as soon as you can after running. Also taking an over the counter anti-inflammatory (Aleve, Advil, etc.) as directed on the bottle, about an hour before you run can help keep down the inflammation. Try doing this for several days and if the pain persists then you should see an orthopedic doctor and get a referral to go to physical therapy.

What is wrong with my knee?

I am 16 years old and I get sharp almost numbing pain in my knee when I run up the stairs or jump into rapid activity. I was thinking that the tendon may be slipping or perhaps I have been pinching a nerve. Today I ran up the stairs at school from a slow walk and on the 4th or 5th stair my knee completely seized up and sent pains like someone jabbed a knife behind my knee cap.
My mom has knee problems so this is most likely genetically related. Thanks in advance
Answer:
Some possible causes:1) Could be chondromalacia patellae, the softening of your inner knee cap surface due to constant rubbing of it on your main leg bone's surface , the femur. Once you find out for sure what it is, you could get a referral to a physiotherapist by your family doctor to see what kind of exercises your could do to strengthen your top thigh muscles (quadriceps)2) Torn cartilage that cushions your upper leg bone (femur) from your lower leg bone (mostly the tibia)--a pinching of the torn flap portion could be painful as well as making your knee lock up3) A torn flap of unnecessary tissue...can't remember the name of it off the top of my head at the moment...but it is quite common.
I am having the same exact problem.JUST WENT TO THE Doctor. You probably have a Miniscus tear in your knee.
Look it up on Web MD.com . Ihope this helps

What is wrong with my Knee :(?

I played football on sunday for my team and some one tackled me i went full force onto my left knee i continued to play on but now it's really painful it hurts when i walk up stairs and once i've been in a position for a long time and go to bend it it really really hurts. I dont really want to get it checked out because last time i did they just said have some parcetamols please help ?
Answer:
i had a torn acl surgery about 3 years ago. if it is just painful, you probably just strained it or even bruised the knee. if you had torn ligaments you would know, your knee would be popping out of joint. give it a few weeks to see if the pain goes away. ice it up for 20 minutes at a time, elevated, and stay off of it as much as possible. i waited 3 years till i went to the doctor, and he said it didn't mater if i had the surgery wright away or years later. give it sometime and see what happens. you will know if something internal is wrong, you know yourself better than anyone else.
mostly likley strained. WRAP IT UP, ICE IT AND STAY OFF OF IT. if that doesn't help in a day or two see your allopathic doc. they are good for this kind of thing.
Visit a doctor as soon as possible!!!
if you do not want to go to the doctor...
massage gently- try tiger balm. Are you able to move your knee and leg normally even though it is painful? It will heal if you " baby it" and limp around for a couple of weeks. Keep it warm and don't play football for a while.
it could be runnners knee.
see a docter.
take ib profin for three days.
ice after physical activitys.
good luck.!

What Is Wrong With My Foot?

I cant bend it fully forward, in the maner of pointing it up towards my head, and part of the top of my foot is a bit numb. My stride has changed, and my foot flops a little bit. Ive stumbled and fell a few times as well. What does this sound like?
Answer:
could be neurological ,see a doctor

Maybe some nerve damage, but don't self diagnose. see a Dr.
i cannot answer that without asked many questions, try going without footwear for a while, see if that helps, i suggest you go to the doctors
It sounds like you need to see an Orthopedic Surgeon or a Podiatrist. Just stop asking for medical advice at ByeDr.com. We are only a little bit more educated than your run of the mill witch doctor, so don't risk it.You should know better.
may check to see if you have diabetes! numbness occurs in diabetics!!! get it checked out,,,,good to know wether your a diabetic or not. also could be a spazums
Does your back bother you at all? I ask because it sounds like you have dropfoot, which is a symptom rather than a condition in and of itself. I mostly come across it in connection with back problems such as disk herniation or stenosis, but it can also be associated with other injuries. Whatever the case may be, it is imperative that you get to a doctor right away. If you can't be seen within the next 24-48 hours, you should go to the emergency room or an urgent care center for evaluation, as this can be a very serious neurologic problem. For more info:http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarti...
It doesn't sound good. You need to get to the doctor and fast, you could be having the beginning signs of a stroke. Which are but not only: paralysis (usually on one part of the body on one side of the body), limited limb movement, bad motor control. Please seek a doctor immediately, like now...it could save your life!

What is wrong with me??

Okay. I don't understand what is wrong with me. I've been sick off and on since december. With sinus infections, colds, the flu, and migraines. I don't really know what is wrong. And the past week I have had a horrible migraine. I've had an MRI, and i've been to all kinds of doctors, and nothing shows anything. My head hurts so bad, i can't even get out of bed sometimes. I've had it since last Thursday. Today, I started noticing other symptoms. I have a low fever now. And my whole body aches, it hurts to move. I don't know what to do anymore. Can anybody give me any advice?
Answer:
find Craniosacral therapist fast! I used to suffer from intense sinus pain that made my face ache so bad etc. Migraines and flu like symptoms too! about 2 1/2 years ago after taking antiboiotics from the doctor and pain killers for days with no avail, I found a craniosacral therapist and I have had very little trouble since... I just go for a session once every six months now and it works brilliantly!!
im thinkin that if the doctors dont know, then nobody on yahoo is gonna know either. thats just me tho.allergies is my best guess.serious.serious.allergies.
please go for full blood test for HIV., hepatitis A and B, something might come up coz' this is getting very serious gal.
Go to the ER, sometimes doctors are too busy to take the time for each patient and they overlook things. You need a blood workup to see what it is.
It took an arthritis specialist a whole year to decide what I had. I found a different doctor especially in the ER has all the equipment at hand to figure out what is wrong. If nothing else it will get your own doctor to pay attention when she gets the report from the ER. Headaches can sometimes be from stress, which you are having just from not knowing what is making you feel ill. Good Luck to you. Go to the ER get a second opinion. You could have Mono, Lime Disease, Hepititis, the list could go on for a mile. Go get help.
There was a patient with similar symtoms that came a went,
confused doctors for months, finally one day she took her doctor for a ride in her restored classic car, and when he became sick they realized her exhaust system was poisoning
her on long trips. check car and house for air Quality and
gas ( monoxide ) or vapor leaks.
your immune system is breaking down. I will help you with this product that I take for my headaches. www.thefirst.originallimu.com
Could be lots of things but since it has been going on for several months it rules out things like food poisoning and bird flu etc. I would look closer to things like T.B. or even and S.T.D. Another thing that is a lot less serious is anxiety and stress which can cause all of your symptoms and can be as deadly as cancer if it is not gotten under control stress can kill you!
Are you drinking or using drugs? If so stop! sometimes people that drink and use have the problems that you are describing.
sounds like pneumonia...
Do you avoid all processed foods?
"Natural Flavors" often include *not-so-natural MSG*, which can cause (among many other things) severe migraine pain, high blood pressure, %26 tinnitus. Sufferers report that --whatever symptoms they suffer from its ingestion-- they last for three days. I accidently ate some, %26 within the hour, the 3 symptoms I've mentioned Came Over me. I researched MSG, went to my cupboard, took a dose of whole Hawthorn tincture (%26 probably a dose of MSM, as well), and all 3 symptoms vanished after just 1 more hour. Hawtrhorn isn't the only remedythan opens capillaries... Niacin does, for one... (Hawthorn also deeply relaxes).
MSM improves circulation, too (Iforget just how), plus it can bind with toxins to aid in their removal.Have you been told to avoid all milk %26 milk products? These produce phlegm, which ALL pathogens thrive in!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/pathogens...You might also look into the 'theory' that if we keep our body the correct PH, that it can't support pathogens (for that, look up "alkaline foods" in a Web search). If you want a suggestion as to what type of Dr can best help you, I'd say a Naturopath--who is researching energy medicine. What Future for the Practice of Medicine?

What is wrong with me?

My whole upper body hurts especially in the chest when I think about overly emotional stuff. I sleep on my stomach and I'm fine the next day. It hurted when I woke up today and it occasionally hurts now. Probably just nothing...though it happened to me a few times before.
Answer:
I am lost for words but my best recommendation is to visit a doctor and to find out from him hw you can cure it. Whenever my bones begin to ache, I take some vitamines every single day and the pain goes away.
You may be suffering from panic attacks.
It sounds like muscle pain. More than likely your upper body muscles tense up when you think about emotional stuff. Try yoga, or just regular stretching, on a daily basis. If it does not go away, discuss possible muscle relaxers with your doctor, but that's only short term medications. Stretching and breathing exercises are amazing if you do them on a daily basis! Hope you feel better soon.
Sounds like anxiety...Anxiety chest pain can be sharp, dull, in the center, to the side or all round the chest. It can extend into the neck and shoulders, round the back of the head and down into the stomach area. Anxiety chest pain can come and go, come and stay or twinge occasionally, in fact, I have heard possibly every description and variation of anxiety related chest pain there is. People who develop chest pains when anxious may become even more anxious, even panicking, at the thought that they're having a heart attack. Unfortunately, that kind of worry can just make the situation worse. I really think it's anxiety but chest pain is nothing to guess on or play with. I suggest seeing your doctor. If it is anxiety he can prescribe a mild anti-anxiety med to take before bedtime. Good Luck Dear.
I'd say that you are definitely tense and what you do need urgently is an excellent massage. Did you say you wanted a massage? Please let me know when I can begin to massage your beautiful body so all of the tense can leave your body once and for good!.

What is wrong with me?

Every now and then, I start feeling real hot and my ears turn deep red. Kind of feels like blood is rushing into my head. Also feel kind of shaky. My head also starts feeling funny, not painful just uncomfortible and not right. One time it made me very shaky and very thirsty. It happens a couple times a week and lasts about an hour.
Answer:
Get your blood pressure and blood sugar checked. I am hypoglycemic and do that if I don't eat regular or if I eat something with a lot of sugar and not anything to balance it. Go to a Dr and they can check it. Until you get to one, next time it happens eat a spoon of peanut butter or drink a glass of orange juice.
i dont really no wats wrong with u but wat i do no is tht u seriously need to c a doctor.
Might be a seizure. I'd talk with a doctor about it, you never know.
You may be suffering from high blood pressure, thyriod disorders or maybe it is just your body normal reaction and system. You may like to consult your dr to have a checkup if this problem worsens for you. Good luck :)
Sounds like something is getting shut off could be threat of a stroke, a cerebral accident, hemorage, I think you should go immediately to the emergency room and they will no doubt give you a cat scan. Best of luck! Please do not delay!
You need to get your blood sugar checked and or talk to a doc.
Hubby suffers from this as well as his grandfather now my husbands is from hypoglocymia, and his grandfather is hyperglycimia, you may wnat to go in and get a glucose tolerance test to see if you have a diebetic conditon. If you do and you do not treat it it will just worsen.
Have you had your blood pressure or blood sugar checked lately? It sounds like one of those things are out of control, I would suggest you see your family doctor. Good luck.
I would strongly advise you to go see your doctor. The symptoms at first sounded like hypertension(high blood pressure), however as I read on it seems you may have diabetes. Does it happen after you eat or when you haven't eaten. Another possibility is simple partial seizures. I hope I am wrong, but that is nothing to wait on. You need to go have your blood sugar checked. I would go very soon or even possibly an urgent care or ER.

What is wrong when...?

What is wrong when your finger feels like it needs to pop, but you can't get it to. I've tried all the normal ways I do it...It just won't..And its been over a day now...HELP
Answer:
Okay well this is simply normal if your finger feels like it needs to pop just twist it around a little bit and then lightly pull a little bit if it still feels that way then think of something else to do because then that way you will be able to get your mind off of it. I know that it may be hard but then it just might work!
Just keep moving it without 'popping' it...you'll feel better soon...try some heat on it
It is probably a very minor sprain. That is not uncommon. Do not force it. Try to keep your mind off of it and it will go away. If it is a minor sprain and you keep trying it, you will either damage it or irritate the sprain so that it does not go away any time soon.
its jammed. I do that crap all the time. You will eventually be able to pop it or you can just yank it, but I prefer to wait.

What is Vicodin?

Answer:
Some people get addicted to this pain killer.
Vicodin is hydrocodone...a moderate pain reliever.
It is a narcotic pain medication used for moderate to severe pain.
It's a pain medication that's a combination of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and hydrocodone, which is a synthetic opioid. It's a narcotic and as such, is a controlled substance. It's prescribed for severe pain.
a brand of drug.the drug is an analgesic prescribed for moderate to severe pain.the active ingredient is hydrocodone which is an opiate.
Its a combination of a narcotic(hydrocodone) and a non narcotic (acetaminophen) used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Hydrocodone works by binding to opioid recepters in the brain and spinal cord, and acetaminophen decreases the fromation of prostaglandins, therefore relieving pain.

What is up with my neck?

I've been having ongoing pain in my neck for the past year and a half. Sometimes I lose a little sensation down my face and deck until I give my neck a twist and it sometimes makes a loud snapping noise, then all sensation returns. Sometimes the numbness sends me into a panic attack. I would get this checked out but I don't know if I am even covered any more by my medical assistance because I moved back to my mom's house. Do any of you have any idea what may be going on with my neck. I think it's a pinched nerve but I don't know for sure.
Answer:
You have a pinched nerve, I have had this same problem on more than one occassion. go to the emergency room the next time it happens if you are not sure if you are covered by medical. It deffinently should be checked out because it could lead to permanent problems.
Have you seen a doctor?
Or Neckatrician?

What is travel nursing? How does it work?

I am looking for a nursing company that provides nurses for hospitals
Answer:
Travel nursing is one of the highest paid jobs within the nursing profession. Basically nurses travel to different locations filling in where they are needed. There are companies who will provide transportation, housing, and meals to their traveling nursing staff. Traveling nurses can sometimes even travel with family and friends. You can find out more about a traveling nurse at http://www.registered-nurse-staffing.com...
Travel nursing and the Travel Nursing Industry developed in response to the nursing shortage in which nurses are relocated for short-term nursing positions. The current severe shortage of nurses in the United States has increased the need for this type of position and hospitals and recruitment agencies are offering incentives ranging from relocation assistance and furnished housing to stipends and bonuses to qualified registered nurses and lpn/lvn's as well as an assortment of allied health professionals. If the nurse's home state has joined the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrators (NLCA), the nurse can work in any compact state without paying for another license or filing any paper work. All that is required is to have a license (RN or LPN) in good standing in their resident Compact state. There are currently 20 states participating in NLCA with 3 states pending implementation. There are over 400 USA and International Travel Nurse-Allied agencies. This is a website with a list of Travel Nurse Agencies!Good Luck!

What is Tramadol Hyrochloride and its sideffects?

Answer:
Tramadol is a narcotic pain
reliever.Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Tramadol extended-release is used to treat moderate to severe chronic pain when treatment is needed around the clock. the most common adverse events being nausea and vomiting. other side effects, that may go away during treatment, include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, headache, sweating, skin rash, itching, seizures, or hallucinations. This medicine is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking this medicine.
Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. Tramadol is in a class of medications called opiate (narcotic) analgesics. It works by decreasing the body's sense of pain.Tramadol may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: dizziness
weakness
headache
nervousness or anxiety
agitation
shaking hands that you cannot control
increased muscle tightness
changes in mood
drowsiness
blurred vision
heartburn or indigestion
upset stomach
vomiting
diarrhea
constipation
itching
sweating
flushing
dry mouth
Tramadol (aka Ultram) is a type of non-opioid pain reliever that a lot of doctors try to prescribe instead of narcotics. Please be warned, no matter what your doctor might tell you, Ultram is addictive, just like narcotics.A friend of mine is dealing with withdrawals from Ultram right now and has the same symptoms as someone going through it from narcotics. As a matter of fact, my friend said it's worse. :)
Tramadol is an effective pain reliever. Its mode of action resembles that of narcotics, but it has significantly less potential for abuse and addiction than the narcotics. Tramadol is as effective as narcotics in relieving pain but does not depress respiration, a side effect of most narcotics.Side effects are usually transient. Commonly reported side effects include nausea, constipation, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and vomiting. Less commonly reported side effects include itching, sweating, dry mouth, diarrhea, rash, visual disturbances, and vertigo.

What is tmj?

my jaw hurts when i open it wide on the right side but its not sowleen or anything.it didn't hurt all day when i was cheerleading, just when i think about it and my mom was like, i hope u don't have tmj,
what is tmj?
is it serious??
Answer:
the other Answerers have given you good advice. I just want to add information about what you can do to minimize the pain. To help stop or minimize the pain from TMJ, apply hot towels or a heating pad to the joints at your jaw. Do this for fifteen minutes. Wait ten minutes then ice therapy. Place clean tap water into a foam cup and place in your freezer until it is completely frozen. Peel back a small amount of the top of the cup and massage this onto area of pain using constant circular motion. DO NOT hold the ice in one area for more than 3 minutes since this may cause frostbite. Cold therapy should be stopped once the skin feels numb.Take Advil three times daily. Do not chew gum, eat hard foods, as this will aggravate the joint.
Well it depends on how old you are or if you have braces or not. If you do have braces, it most likely from those because they are moving your teeth around. It is the Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ), the joint where the mandible (the lower jaw) joins the temporal bone of the skull, immediately in front of the ear on each side of your head. A small disc of cartilage separates the bones, much like in the knee joint, so that the mandible may slide easily; each time you chew you move it. But you also move it every time you talk and each time you swallow (every three minutes or so). It is, therefore, one of the most frequently used of all joints of the body and one of the most complex. You can locate this joint by putting your finger on the triangular structure in front of your ear. Then move your finger just slightly forward and press firmly while you open your jaw all the way and shut it. The motion you feel is the TMJ. You can also feel the joint motion in your ear canal. Symptoms:
Ear pain
Sore jaw muscles
Temple/cheek pain
Jaw popping/clicking
Locking of the jaw
Difficulty in opening the mouth fully
Frequent head/neck aches What Can Be Done for TMJ?
Because TMJ symptoms often develop in the head and neck, otolaryngologists are appropriately qualified to diagnose TMJ problems. Proper diagnosis of TMJ begins with a detailed history and physical, including careful assessment of the teeth occlusion and function of the jaw joints and muscles. If the doctor diagnoses your case early, it will probably respond to these simple, self-remedies: Rest the muscles and joints by eating soft foods.
Do not chew gum.
Avoid clenching or tensing.
Relax muscles with moist heat (1/2 hour at least twice daily).
It is called temporomandibular. I have it too, and it is very commen. It can be very painful. I have had it for over twenty years. It basically affects the jaw to the skull. It can affect your whole face, cause headaches, and other problems. It can also cause dizziness, like it does to me. I also have neck issues with it. Usually it comes from grinding your teeth. That is what I do, but I also was told wearing braces on my teeth caused it. To help relieve it, I take Advil, eat soft foods, apply heat, and massage the area. Once in a while, I will add a muscle relaxer which can help too. You should see your doctor. As far as being serious, your jaw can lock, but not permanently. The main thing is the pain. Please see a doctor though, so they can evaluate it, and maybe give you some stronger medication to help you while it is flared up.

What is this?

i was sitting down watching t.v suddenly my left side of my brain and body went tingerly and numb then my vision went funny and got a really bad headache it only lasted about 5 minutes does anyone no what this could of been or have experianced the same thing.
Answer:
This sounds like the beginnings of a stroke, to me. I suggest that you tell your doctor or go immediately to the hospital, m'dear. Blurry vision? yup... Weakness on one side of your body? probably... check out the American Heart Association's website. Here are the warning signs.http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.j...
This sounds like something nerve related. You've got to see your medical doctor and have a complete check up. You don't want to wait and possibly have something serious.
you really should go to your doctor. it sounds like a stroke.
Sounds like a mini stroke. See a doctor. It could mean the difference between lfe and death.
It sounds like a very small stroke. I would definitley go to see your G.P. It could be nothing but it could be very serious so get it checked out. The only thing you can't buy is your health!
maybe you are stressed and there's somethink that keep getting you down.have u tried talking to your doctor or som1

What is this?

I have what feels like a bruise on the bottom of one foot next to the ball under the second toe. It is slightly swollen but has no visible signs of bruising. Its been 3 weeks (I know Im bad), but I always have to wear shoes or slippers to pad my foot and this is a problem. Any ideas, should I suck it up and see a podiatrist?
Answer:
Go see a podiatrist it most likely sounds like plantar fasciitis.
What you describe, could be several things. You should seek Medical Attention, and forget the Podiatrist...

What is this yellow liquid, thats draining out of my face, & How can I stop it?

I got sunburned yesterday, form being int he sun for a little over 10 hours or so without sunblock, and my face is as red as can be and now is draining this yellow liquid. How can I stop this, and get my face better?! I wash my face 4 times a day, and re apply aloe vera every couple of hours. My hands are clean when I do this, so Whats going on with my face?!
Answer:
Don't wash your face sooo much! Your drying it out. Keep using the moisturizer. Ouch!
Sounds like you need to go to the doctor - you really have a doozy of a sunburn!A burn is a burn, whether it's from the sun or an iron. If it starts draining yellow liquid, it's not good.Call your doctor - now!I wish you well!
Urine?
Its probably pus from an infection after getting sunburned. I suggest you see a doctor right away.
i dont think i would wash my face that often you could dry yourself out and i hope your not useing a harsh soap.just lrt it heal...better yet i think you need to see a dr
This is serum from your blood, draining because of the serious burn you got. Keep your face clean with mild soap once a day, apply the aloe or a light hydrocortisone cream but only use the cream for 2-3 days, no more! This will sooth the burn, the drainage should eventually stop as the burned skin peels and the new hydrated skin emerges.
you definitely should not be washing your face that much! you are stripping it of its natural moiturizer. keep the aloe on and see a doc if it doesn't get better soon!!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeew. didn't you ever hear the song about not forgetting your sunblock?
Sounds like a serious burn that may require medical care to heal without scarring on your face. If the yellow liquid is cloudy yellow and thick consistency you could have an infection which again needs medical treatment. Go see someone.
You can't do anything about it but wait till it stops. Next time when you are out in the sun, wear caps, sunglasses, and other things to prevent being sunburned!
I think it's puss, because you got so sunburn, that the sweat on your face builded up and was absorbed into your skin. I know it sounds disgusting, but i'm pretty sure that's what it is
you re skin might just be really irritated. but just in case, you might want to go to the doctor if it gets bad. and just keep using the lotion. and wear sunblock! hope you feel better.
Is your skin slightly blistered as well? To me, it sounds like sun blisters/sun poisoning/extremely severe burn. I think you just need to give it time. Keep it clean (although 4x a day may exacerbate the dryness of your damaged skin), keep that aloe on (solarcaine is a good option to also help with the pain), and perhaps look for some vitamin E capsules to squeeze them out directly on your skin. Give it a few days, and you should begin to improve.
Good grief. First, hopefully you've learned to use sunblock! Second, you are washing your face way too much. I'd say wash it once in the morning, with something very gentle, and just reapply the aloe vera as needed. And be prepared to peel. That being said, the yellow liquid concerns me. Your burn may be severe enough to require medical attention. The last thing you want is an infection. If it was me, I would go to the doctor to be safe. Your burn is quite severe, and your doctor may have something that will give you much better relief from pain, and protection against infection, than aloe vera can do. I'm all for the natural approach, but this may be beyond that. Also, I wouldn't wait--it could get worse quite quickly. Go to the doctor to be safe.
This is serous fluid, something like plasma without blood that is normal when the skin is burned. I'm not sure how much aloe vera to apply but constantly messing with it can make it worse. It should heal in a few days.
Yeah you shouldnt wash your face that much sunburned or not. You could very well be interfering with the healing process and that's why your face is doing something weird. I would go to walgreens and ask the pharmacist what to do. Its free and you don't have to pay for a dr visit.
I have the same problem. I actually went to work today with it. God I hope we're ok!!!.
you got burnt way to badly,,, If you can get some Indian healing clay from a health store. put a little of it in your bath water or use half bottle of peroxide(but that could hurt ), or sea salt, or squeeze a watermelon in the water ,%26lt;-- that is reall good for your skin

What is this white on my fingers it wont come off and I don't know what it is.?

here is a picturehttp://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t223/...
It wont come off and i don't know what it could be also my pinky is starting to burn. Do you think it's my fingers turning white or something on it?
Answer:
is it maybe a wart?
You need to see a doctor quick. It sounds like you have some sort of vasculitis (vein inflammation) or vasoconstriction. Some of these are self-limiting i.e. Raynauds. Some are much worse i.e. Berger's disease.

What is this type of head gear used for in the medical profession?

I volunteer in a nursing home. One of the ladies who is in the room where I visit someone wears this huge helmut like an astronaut would wear. The woman is not that old but she is very thin and feeble. I don't want to be nosey and ask the nurses but I'm just curious as to why she has to wear this helmut. She cannot move by herself and appears to be heavily medicated. Is this head gear something that helps her to breathe?
Answer:
if it doesnt have hoses going into it its not for breathing...may have a skull defect that requires protection.
Maybe it's the latest fashion where she comes from. More likely though is protection to stop damage to a thinning skull.

What is this sick, tight feeling?

hey,, im 24 and was diganosed with depression about 2 years ago. Im not on any medication and dont plan on going back on them. But i have noticed whenever i get up in the morning i have a horrible tighting sick sensation going on in my stomach, like really bad butterflys. I am going through some stress right now, mostly $$$. Could this be why and how can i ease the tighting, its actually starting to hurt now,
Answer:
You could have a stomach ulcer, or you could have an acidic stomach.
Try eating some saltine crackers when you wake up..or try and eat breakfast as close to the time you wake up as possible, this may ease that problem.
If it persists, go to the doctor, possibly you just need some antacids for a while or a perscription for an ulcer.
Things have a way of working themselves out, try and set aside one half hour a day just for worrying. That's all you do for that half hour, worry about your problems. Then, after that half hour is up, you must force yourself not to worry and just go about your daily business. Have fun, see a movie, hug your dog, kiss your boyfriend, eat an ice cream, read a good book..take a nap.
Life is full of things to worry about, most of it never happens the way you think it will. I am over forty years old, I learned this the hard way.
it could very well be this =hopefully you aren't pregnant
try relaxation to ease the tightness
It could be anxiety. When I get nervous or stressed out, I start to feel nauseous. Depression is no joke and I hope that you will feel better. Nothing in this world should make you feel like that and I'm very sorry that you do.
It sounds like anxiety. You haven't had any attacks from anxiety at all?
I'm sure we can all understand the stress one person can be held by once you run into money problems, and we can all sympathize how worrying it is.
I know this is easier said than done, but really do try relaxing, for the good of your health, just take a day to yourself, have a lie in in the morning, have a nice soak in the bath, do things you want to do. Try and keep your mind as far away as possible from your problems.Like I said, it's easier said than done. There's a lot of will power needed in getting away from stress and anxiety, and it's hard. So maybe speaking with someone closer to you might help also?Hope you get better soon :(
Sometimes when one gets in a stressful time you have to pull back and not try and take care of all of ones things and look at the smaller picture. Take things 1 minute to the next one day at a time till things get worked out. But when you talk about money problems that can make life hard for sure. Do you have someone to talk to about these problems a close bf or gf or parent or is you go to church someone from there?
